How to Rehydrate
Is Drinking Water Enough?
WebMD
For a mild case, it should be enough just to drink plenty of fluids. Water is your first choice, but there are lots of special drinks on the market that will help you replace your body’s lost water and electrolytes.
Simple Things You Can Do to Rehydrate
Drink Water
I’ll start with the obvious. This is generally good enough if you aren’t too dehydrated. However, if it’s more serious, please consult your doctor.
Avoid alcohol and drinks that contain large amounts of caffeine.
These drinks can actually increase the frequency of times you have to use the bathroom, therefore making it harder to retain the fluids you are taking in.
Prevention
Obviously, it’s better if you can just stay hydrated. So, here are a few things you can do to help.
- Keep a water bottle with you all the time.
- Drink water before, during and after any sports, exercise or workouts.
- Anytime you go to a restaurant, always choose to drink water.
- Do you feel hungry? If so, drink water first. Sometimes if you feel hungry, it’s really water that your body needs.
- If you often forget to drink water, then set a timer on your watch or mobile device to remind you. You’ll never forget!
In Conclusion
Obviously, it’s better if you can stay hydrated. Water is so important for the function of every part of your body.
But, if you do become dehydrated, then go for the water first. In most cases that should be enough. Again, if it’s more serious, please consult a medical professional.
